Montezuma Mudd Web Site Launches

Montezuma Mudd Pottery is owned and operated by a talented artisan and potter, Phyllis Lucas. She has been working to build her Etsy shop over the last 13 months and a nice brand identity boost could help.

So I set out to establish a look and feel that both represented Montazuma Mudd and a brand that Phyllis loved. I began with the logo and color swatch, then the website and Etsy shop. Recently, Phyllis has joined twitter and needed a cohesive design for that as well.

Phyllis wanted an easy to maintain web site so I thought it was best to put her site on the WordPress platform. WordPress is fantastic for both new and experienced users. It allows for a lot of flexibility in design and functionality.

The Montezuma Mudd web site has been integrated with Phyllis’ Etsy shop, her twitter account and it also allows her to update her web site on her own.

Etsy Shop Design for Montezuma Mudd Pottery

After a little tweaking, the right design finally came through, as seen bellow, along with a custom avatar. Both designs are used in Montezuma Mudd’s Etsy shop.

Montezuma Mudd Pottery color ideas for logo

After a few rounds of color swatch exchange, the color scheme of sage and rust was chosen of Montezuma Mudd Pottery. The bellow image shows the final logo design and the final color scheme.

This set of logo ideas I took a more contemporary direction with the design and also added a graphical element with the swirl or the leaf.

The following sets are in black and white or gray scale to help illustrate how the logo looks on its own. Sometimes color can play tricks on your eye, making the logo seem better than it really is. So it’s best to start out in black and white to make sure the logo will hold up.
